About the Atelier

What does “handmade” mean at Atelier Lorelai?

It means the making happens here. Pieces are designed, cut, sewn, embroidered and finished in our Arkansas studio rather than sourced as finished goods and simply branded afterward. Depending on the design, that can include hand-finishing, hand-sewn scallops, pinked seam allowances, custom embroidery, hand-painted artwork and other small details that are difficult to standardize for mass production.

What makes a piece “heirloom quality”?

For us, heirloom quality is a construction standard rather than a marketing label. It includes the fabric, lining, interlining, seam finishing, proportion, embroidery placement and the way the piece is finished inside as well as outside. The goal is a piece that can be used, stored and brought back out for years.

Where are Atelier Lorelai pieces made?

Our handmade goods are made in our Arkansas studio.

Christmas Stockings

What makes an Atelier Lorelai stocking different?

Each stocking is handmade and personalized in our studio using classic fabrics, thoughtful structure, full lining and detailed embroidery. The lasting piece comes first: a beautifully constructed stocking designed to return to the mantel year after year.

What fabrics are available?

Cotton Piqué
Crisp, classic and softly textured.

Silk Dupioni
Elegant and softly lustrous, with the natural texture and variation characteristic of genuine silk.

Can I choose the embroidery?

Yes. Depending on the stocking, you can personalize it with a name or monogram and select from the embroidery styles and thread colors shown on the product page. Placement and proportion are treated as part of the design.

What are the bows and scalloped cuffs?

They are optional finishing details made for compatible Atelier Lorelai stockings. Hidden magnetic snaps allow certain bows and cuffs to attach without visible hardware, so the same personalized stocking can be styled in more than one way. You never need an accent for the stocking to feel complete.

Can I buy an additional bow or cuff later?

Yes. Compatible accents are sold separately so you can coordinate additions to the family or change a finishing detail without replacing the personalized stocking.

The Birthday Cottage

What is The Birthday Cottage?

The Birthday Cottage is the party-goods side of Atelier Lorelai: handmade party hats, banners, birthday bibs, cake toppers and coordinating keepsakes made in the same studio with the same attention to materials, scale and finishing.

Ordering & Shipping

Are pieces made to order?

Yes. Atelier Lorelai's handmade goods are made to order unless a product page states otherwise.

Standard production is 7 business days before shipment. When available, Rush My Order reduces eligible handmade production to 1 business day. Shipping transit time is separate from production time.

When should I order for Christmas?

For 2026, please place Christmas stocking orders by November 1 for Christmas delivery. Because production capacity is limited, Christmas orders may close earlier if the season fills.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, Atelier Lorelai ships within the United States only.

Can I change or cancel my order after checkout?

No. Because each item is handmade to order, orders cannot be canceled, changed or modified after checkout. Please review personalization, quantities, shipping address and item selections carefully before placing your order.

Can personalized items be returned?

Personalized and made-to-order items are final sale. If an order arrives damaged, differs from what you ordered or contains an Atelier Lorelai error, please contact us within three days of delivery so we can make it right.

Care & Keeping

What is the Atelier Lorelai Heirloom Guarantee?

We make these pieces with the expectation that they will be used for years. If an Atelier Lorelai heirloom needs cleaning or minor mending over time, we will clean, press and mend it at no charge for as long as you own it. You are responsible only for shipping the piece to and from our studio. Contact us before sending an item so we can provide instructions.

Are any Atelier Lorelai designs patent pending?

Yes. Certain Atelier Lorelai interchangeable textile designs are U.S. patent pending.
